I love Jill Shalvis books. I am not certain why they don’t always show up on my to-read list. Something I am going to have to change! The Summer Escape is her newest book in the Sunrise Cove Series. The setting is a wonderful little town near Lake Tahoe with all sorts of outdoor adventures. It is here we find the hunky and hunkier Owen Harris who runs the local Adventure Business. He believes his aunt’s jewelry was stolen by Anna and Wendy Moore’s father.
Wendy is stuck on bedrest (triplets) and knows that her father is not guilty, but she is dying for her sister to find her love. Anna is the hard working detective who agrees to help find the missing jewelry even if it means their father was guilty. (Anna doesn’t believe he is as he was such a good and loving father to them.) Meanwhile Anna and Owen get close to help track down the missing treasures. Wendy doesn’t want to be left out, so she convinces her sister to take her along with them by phone.
Anna and Owen run into some interesting characters and definite questions as they try to work out what was happening. They also keep running into the chemistry that surrounds them and can’t seem to help themselves. Eventually they come across a clue which leads them into dangerous territory and a killer.
Jill Shalvis’ character of Wendy about killed me. She was so bored and obsessive and yet on target, that I couldn’t stop smirking at her. Owen’s dog was a hoot! I loved the chemistry between Owen and Anna. Altogether the book was a fun read with the characters and mystery. The Summer Escape by Jill Shalvis was a fun read!
